"CRITTERLIGHT" is a small sampling of photographs that I have taken from 1999 to the present. They will be updated regularly. The birds and other animals displayed here were all photographed in various natural areas on Long Island, where I live. In all cases, the animals were wild and unrestrained and in their natural habitat.
For those interested, all of these images were produced with Nikon equipment. Beautiful colors, spot on auto focus, superb ergonomics and faultless performance have always worked well for me. Some older, pre-digital images were shot with a Nikon F100 using Fuji Provia 100 and then scanned on a Nikon SC 5000 ED. Since the camera was introduced in 2004, all of the images were produced with the D2x and D2xs. In 2016, I added a pair of Nikon D500's to my camera bag and continue to use them as my main bodies. They are still remarkable. I have a complete collection of Nikon lenses and most frequently use the 600mm F4 AF-S, generally with a 1.4 teleconverter. It still performs perfectly twenty plus years later. I also use the 500mm F5.6 PF VR lens frequently. Fill flash with SB-800 speedlights is frequently used for avian subjects. The images are altered minimally and represent what I saw through my viewfinder accurately.
